Story of Changelogfy - How two people from Brazil change product release notes

Hello ! Who are you and what are you working on?

I am a programmer passionate about technology. I am working at Changelogfy to change it form communication between companies, their customers and employees.

What motivated you to get started with? How did you come up with the idea?

I am an entrepreneur by nature, this is my third business, all online. Communication has always been a barrier, internal or external. I created Changelogfy to change that. With Changelogfy, you update your internal team on new features and still communicate your customers, obtaining feedbacks and optimizing processes.

Can you tell us the story of your business from idea to where you are now?

Create an initial prototype in late 2018. In May 2019, we officially launched Changelogfy reaching our initial customer target. Since then, throughout 2019, we have increased to more than 200 records, since our launch; we are generating revenue.

In 2020, we are finalizing our new version of the software and the launch is scheduled for the month of May.

We are growing every month in a solid and consistent manner.

With the new version, much more complete, we will be ready to further scale our product by breaking down barriers and changing the way of communicating.

What has been your biggest failure or struggle?

Changelogfy is applicable to many companies, and identifying our ideal customer is a difficult task. But we are working with marketing to identify the ideal customer profile, comparing Changelogfy's customer profiles and the profile that most represents engagement in our campaign actions. A BI task.

And what has been your biggest achievement or success?

Being able to put Changelogfy on the air and see it growing every day, even before marketing, is a victory.

Seeing what the product solves and knowing that it fulfills its purpose is priceless.

Since launch, what has worked to attract and retain customers?

We have not used any paid strategy since the launch of Changelogfy.

We opted for quality content on the blog and that alone made it grow.

As a good product, or Changelogfy solves an existing pain in most companies - communication. From there, customer retention became easier.

In May 2020, we will start our paid campaign. We are looking forward to the results.

Describe the process of launching the business.

We created an MVP and released it to some test friends / customers to get feedback.

Then, it spread to some communities / groups to find more customers and scale, we fixed some errors along the way, improved some technologies and developed new resources.

Changelogfy has won new customers by reference and remains so until now.

Did you use Betalist or PH or other Startup Launching Platform for Launching ? How was that experience ?

We used betalist and product hunt, our experience was great, we had great results for the product hunt.

What’s your business model, and how have you grown your revenue?

Our business model is SaaS, where the customer pays a monthly fee to use Changelogfy.

We currently have a free plan, in which the customer can use the resources and evolve from the plan as their business evolves.

What are the biggest challenges you’ve faced and obstacles you’ve overcome? What are your goals for the future?

Our biggest challenge was adapting our technology to allow for global scale and a considerable demand for data.

Our goal is to complete the new version of Changelogfy, so that we can focus on continuous improvement and user experience, and through digital marketing, scale our product globally.

Let’s talk about your marketing strategy -- how do you market and grow the service?

We chose to work with quality content and posted frequently on our blog.

In May 2020, we started our paid campaign to acquire customers. We are looking forward to the results.

Through starting the business, have you learned anything particularly helpful or advantageous?

I learned that you will not always be motivated, but you must always be disciplined.

A dream gets you started, but only discipline gets you there.

With Changelogfy, I learned to launch a product, think outside the box, create a global product and, finally, I learned the importance of discipline in business and in life.

What platform/tools do you use for your business?

In Changelogfy, use some tools like: Crysp, Gitlab, Amazom, Stripe and Google.

Who’s your most inspirational CEO or founder?

A face that inspired me Jeff Bezos, he built a great company in the world and changed the technology landscape.

What have been the most influential books, podcasts, or other resources?

I really like the book Lean Startup and Exponential Organizations, which I indicate with my eyes closed is Ray Dalio Principios.

Podcast, I hear a lot of Nerdcast, Allura and Primocast.

What’s your advice for fellow aspiring entrepreneur who are just starting out?

Research, validate your product and talk to your customers.

Better done than perfect. Start and then be open to change.

Remember, a dream gets you started, but only discipline will get you there.
